When to report to health and safety executive?

You should report a possible breach of health and safety law or an issue that an employer does not address if you feel it could pose serious harm to yourself or others.

Ask yourself:

• Could my manger or safety rep first be notified?

• Could my employer or the company involved first be notified?

If the answer to these is no or you have already spoken to someone with but with no success, then you should contact the Health and Safety Executive or your local authority who will direct you to the correct department.
